Redact Emails and Phone Numbers in Customer Screenshots

A repeatable screenshot review workflow for marketing and support teams.

Customer support conversations, product dashboards and case studies often contain details that should not appear in a public screenshot. A repeatable review process helps teams avoid publishing those details accidentally.

Start with the audience and purpose

Decide what the screenshot needs to demonstrate. Crop out unrelated panels and look for customer names, email addresses, phone numbers, account identifiers, private messages and internal notes. Review the image according to your organization’s policies before publishing.

Use OCR to assist your review

In SnapVeil, load your screenshot and select the supported rules you want to scan for. Run Auto Redact to locate matching text. Detection depends on image clarity, text size and format; it may miss details or flag ordinary numbers.

Add temporary keywords for relevant project or customer terms, and manually cover anything the scan missed. For sensitive details, choose solid masks rather than pixelation.

Handle a set of screenshots consistently

You can load multiple images and move through them in the editor. Review each image separately, even when using batch actions. A scan that works on one dashboard may miss a detail on another.

For repeated workflows, Pro can save one privacy profile in the current browser. That profile stays on that browser; it is not a shared team workspace. Keep private keywords off shared devices.

Check the final export

Open the downloaded image and inspect the masks, edges and background content. Ask a colleague to review high-impact public materials when appropriate. There is no fixed completion time: a careful review matters more than a five-second promise.

Free exports include a watermark and a 1920px limit. Pro removes the watermark and offers up to 3840px exports without upscaling smaller originals. Open the editor to try the workflow.
